Player of the Weekend: 18th February
Football was varied across league and cup around Europe this weekend, with some clubs progressing into the later rounds of knockout football and others climbing the table.
One side tallying up points steadily is Inter Milan, as this sleeping giant of European football looks to reassert itself at the top table in Serie A. Defeat to PSV Eindhoven saw them exit the Champions League at the group stage at the back end of last year, but in the league their steady form looks to assure another crack at Champions League football next term.
But all was in the balance this weekend as, with rivals AC Milan breathing down their necks, a sudden flurry of goals within five minutes saw Inter victorious against Sampdoria with our Player of the Weekend scoring the winner, Radja Nainggolan. Never one to shy away from the spotlight and always one to provide a stunning long-range effort, it seems, the Belgian midfielder ended a mad 5-minute spell which saw Inter take the lead on 73 minutes, lose it by 75 and regain it in the 78th.
What response from Inter to take the lead back!!! Radja Nainggolan with the low strike from outside the 18 yard box!!! 2-1 Inter with 20 minutes to go! #tlnsoccer #InterSampdoria #SerieA pic.twitter.com/T3igLsP1uz

Without Mauro Icardi, their talisman recently stripped of the captain’s armband, Inter needed someone to step up and Nainggolan did exactly that – and in some style, too. A worthy winner of our Player of the Weekend title.
