When Lucas Wensing sold his tech company in 2018, he found himself in a new position. Financially independent, but philosophically restless. “Once you have capital,” he says, “you’re forced to think about what money really is, and how fragile the financial system really is.” That realization didn’t lead him to traditional investments, but to Bitcoin – a technology he saw as fairer, more transparent, and more empowering.
New Approach

“We wanted to build something serious,” Lucas Wensing explains. “Not just ride the wave, but help shape the standard.” Amdax was the first crypto company registered with the Dutch Central Bank, and among the first in the Netherlands to be licensed under MiCAR – Europe’s new regulatory framework for crypto. But for Wensing, that’s not the real milestone: “It’s not about being first. It’s about setting the right standard and sticking to it.”
He’s not the type to follow the crowd. “I’ve never done things because they were expected of me,” he says. “What motivates me is sharing a vision and building something that others truly want to be part of.”
