WAGMI Brings Oranje Energy to De Kuip

Before the Netherlands even kicked a ball in De Kuip at the game against Algeria, the evening already felt bigger than a regular farewell match. With WAGMI at the centre of the night, $hirak and Jonna Fraser turned the build-up into a celebration of Oranje belief, music and collective energy. The result on the pitch did not go the Dutch way, but the message of the evening remained clear: We’re All Gonna Make It.

De Kuip had that familiar Oranje (the nickname of the Dutch national team) feeling from the start. Fans arrived in orange, the stands slowly filled with noise, and the night carried the sense of a country preparing itself for a big football summer.

Before the game, that energy moved from the stands to the stage. Dancers dressed in orange set the mood, turning the live performance into more than just a warm-up act. It felt like a proper send-off, with music, movement and colour bringing supporters together before the first whistle.

What WAGMI Stands For

WAGMI stands for “We’re All Gonna Make It”. The phrase originally comes from crypto culture, where it became a way of expressing optimism, belief and shared success.

This summer, Bitvavo reimagined that idea as a national rallying cry for Dutch football. Together with the KNVB, $hirak and Jonna Fraser, the campaign turns WAGMI into something that feels made for Oranje: a message about staying together, believing in the journey and keeping the energy alive, even when things do not go perfectly.

At the heart of the campaign is the anthem “We’re All Gonna Make It” by $hirak and Jonna Fraser. Performed live in De Kuip before the match, the song gave the evening its emotional centre.

It was not just about getting the crowd hyped. The track carried the feeling of a country standing behind its team, with the rhythm, lyrics and performance building towards the same idea: this summer belongs to everyone who believes in Oranje.

Belief After the Defeat

On the pitch, the night ended in disappointment. Algeria beat the Netherlands 1-0 after a late goal from Anis Hadj Moussa, making the farewell match less comfortable than Dutch fans would have hoped.

Still, that almost made the WAGMI message more relevant. Football is never only about perfect nights and easy wins. Sometimes it is about how a team, and a country respond when the result hurts.

For Oranje, the belief did not vanish after one lost game. The World Cup is still ahead, the streets will still turn orange, and the idea behind WAGMI still stands: together, the Netherlands keep moving forward.

In the end, De Kuip showed exactly what football culture can do. A concert, a crowd, a song and a shared feeling turned one match into something bigger than the scoreline. The game was lost, but the belief remains.
