The event offered a first look at the vehicle that ushers in BMW’s Neue Klasse era, combining innovation, sustainability, and unmistakable design. We also spoke with Anne Brons, CEO of BMW Nederland, who shared his thoughts on what makes this launch so defining.
A Vision Reimagined
“The new iX3 is an homage to our first Neue Klasse from the 1980s,” Brons said. “It is sleek, iconic and full of character, but completely reimagined through our Design for Circularity philosophy. Everything aligns: the lines, the materials, and the feeling you get the moment you step inside.”

Launching in March 2026, the iX3 marks BMW’s most ambitious step forward in electrification, digitalisation, and circularity. The model represents the first in a new generation of vehicles that will define the future of the brand, where driving pleasure meets responsibility. Built at BMW’s iFactory in Debrecen, the iX3 is produced entirely fossil free, setting new standards in sustainability across the industry.
Innovation at the Core
At the heart of the iX3 lies Heart of Joy, a high-performance computing system that synchronises the drivetrain, braking and steering with remarkable precision. Every movement of the driver is translated instantly, creating a sense of control that feels both natural and intuitive. Combined with the sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, featuring dual electric motors, an 800V architecture and an advanced high-efficiency battery, the iX3 delivers greater range, faster charging and lower energy consumption than its predecessor.
On the road, these innovations create a driving experience that feels both responsive and calm, showing that progress and pleasure can truly go hand in hand.
Inside, the Panoramic iDrive redefines the user experience with a perfect balance between digital interaction and tactile control. The result is a cockpit that keeps the driver’s focus exactly where it should be, on the road. Sustainability plays a defining role in the iX3. About 30 percent of its materials are recycled, while details like the Econeer seat fabrics highlight BMW’s commitment to circular design.
Designed for the Future
Every element of the new BMW iX3 represents harmony between performance, intelligence and emotion. The Heart of Joy ensures dynamic handling with up to 60 percent more efficient energy recovery. The Gen6 eDrive system increases range to approximately 805 kilometres, while improving overall efficiency by 40 percent. Even the design reflects this evolution; clean, confident and instantly recognisable as BMW.
