Ajax represents creativity, flair and international success, while Feyenoord stands for hard work, loyalty and a strong working-class identity. Amsterdam’s tradition and academy-driven philosophy meets Eindhoven’s efficiency and structure, creating a rivalry based on performance rather than geography.
PSV, historically linked to the Philips company, represents organisation and consistency, while Ajax is known for its attacking football and world-famous youth system. The rivalry between PSV and Feyenoord is different again. It is less about national identity and more about competition for position just behind or alongside Ajax. Eindhoven and Rotterdam represent different parts of the Netherlands, with PSV’s structured, almost industrial identity facing Feyenoord’s raw, emotional support base.

In 2010, PSV delivered one of the most shocking results in Dutch football history, beating Feyenoord 10–0, the heaviest defeat the Rotterdam club has ever suffered. Less than a year later, Feyenoord responded by winning 3–1 in Eindhoven, showing how quickly momentum can shift in this rivalry.
