PUMA Becomes the New Premier League Ball-Supplier
PUMA has officially been announced as the new match ball supplier for the Premier League, marking the end of Nike’s 25-year reign. The deal signals a major shift in the landscape of European football, as PUMA continues its push into top-tier competitions. Here’s a closer look at the league’s ball supplier history, PUMA’s recent football ventures, and what this partnership means for the future.

Ending Nike’s 25-year Reign
In a landmark move, PUMA has signed a multi-year deal to become the Premier League’s official match ball supplier starting with the 2025–26 season. This agreement ends Nike’s 25-year run as the league’s ball provider, which started in 2000. Before that, the brand Mitre had been the inaugural ball supplier for the Premier League between 1992 and 2000.
PUMA’s deal is reportedly worth more than the £10 million per year that Nike was paying for the rights, making it a lucrative partnership for the league. Beyond supplying match balls for every Premier League fixture, PUMA will support league initiatives such as community youth programs and the Premier League Summer Series in the U.S. These unique aspects mean PUMA’s involvement goes beyond equipment, helping with grassroots development and global marketing efforts alongside the Premier League.
PUMA is taking over European Football
This creative drive is matched by PUMA’s strategic expansion into top leagues. In recent years, Puma has secured match ball supplier deals with Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Serie A (both leagues previously supplied by Nike) and even the English Football League (Championship). Its official match balls – such as the PUMA Orbita used in La Liga – employ advanced technology, including a new 12-panel configuration for balanced aerodynamics, a 3D-textured surface for durability, and PUMA’s proprietary air-lock valve for better air retention.
By adding the Premier League to its portfolio, PUMA now provides match balls for three of Europe’s biggest leagues, underlining the brand’s aggressive push into elite football competitions.
Partners of Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan & Manchester City
PUMA’s elevated role in English football comes as no surprise given the brand’s recent collaborations and innovations in the sport. The company has actively teamed up with clubs and designers to create standout football apparel. For instance, PUMA and Borussia Dortmund unveiled a special-edition kit that boldly revives the club’s iconic 1990s design, blending nostalgia with modern style. In Italy, PUMA partnered with fashion label Off-White to design AC Milan’s 2025 “Dreamland” kit – a fusion of football and high fashion, marking Off-White’s first kit to feature on-pitch. Puma has also embraced technology in fan engagement, launching a groundbreaking AI-assisted kit design platform with Manchester City, where fans can create a future team jersey, with the winning design becoming an official third kit.
