Maldini Shines for Stone Island in a Campaign Built on Character

Paolo Maldini is not someone who needs an introduction. Still, his latest appearance feels different. For the Spring Summer 2026 collection, Stone Island invited the former AC Milan captain to take part in a campaign that focuses less on image and more on identity. In an interview with the Italian brand, Maldini reflects on life, responsibility, and what truly defines a person once the game fades into the background.

Maldini Stone Island
A Brand Built on Purpose

Stone Island is an Italian label with a reputation rooted in research and innovation. Since its founding in 1982, the brand has treated clothing as a constant experiment, pushing fabric development and function to the forefront. For Spring Summer 2026, that philosophy returns in a campaign shaped around one central idea: community as a form of research.

Rather than relying on models or seasonal trends, Stone Island brought together individuals from different disciplines. Each participant represents a shared mindset rather than a shared profession. What’s more, the campaign blends portrait photography with conversation. It explores how values, experience, and character connect people across cultures and backgrounds.

Paolo Maldini in the Fashion World

Among the featured names is Paolo Maldini, a figure whose career has long been defined by consistency and restraint. Maldini appears wearing the Bonded Linen-TC Stone Island Ghost field jacket, a technically developed piece that reflects the brand’s attention to detail. The jacket is constructed from linen bonded to ultra-light nylon jersey and garment-dyed for a structured finish.

Maldini’s presence does not feel promotional. He is not positioned as a fashion figure, but as someone whose values align naturally with the brand. Lifelong loyalty to Milan, leadership, and a sense of responsibility form the common ground. In that way, the collaboration feels intentional and natural.

Words that Define a Legacy

As part of the project, contributors answered 100 questions curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist. Maldini’s answers stand out for their simplicity and honesty. When asked what achievement he is most proud of, his response is immediate. “Having children, and that they love me.” No trophies mentioned. No statistics.

On how he hopes to be remembered, he does not hesitate. “I’d like to be remembered as a good footballer and as a decent person.” It is a line that sums up his career as clearly as any highlight reel ever could.

Responsibility is another recurring theme. The best advice he ever received came from his father. “Be responsible for your actions.” A sentence that has guided him both on and off the pitch.

Maldini also speaks openly about fear and growth. “You can’t ever be 100% ready,” he admits. “To overcome fear, you have to be as prepared as you can.”

For him, freedom arrives later in life, once maturity allows you to be yourself without compromise. His core values in three words: honesty, respect and dreams. The story of Maldini and Stone Island is not about fashion alone. It is about character, and about how identity is built over time.
