You already know that Amsterdam is a hub for art, both traditional and modern, but here is something new to sample in the Dutch capital this month.
Les Femmes exhibition at Vroom & Varossieau will see traditional art meet graffiti and street art, with strong feminine power at the very heart of it all. It features the work of two strong female artists who paint and sculpt the female figure, celebrating the strength, beauty and power of the feminine through incorporation of contemporary art, art history, sculpture and graffiti.
Before the opening of the exhibition, artists ELLE and Judith Wiersema will join forces for Art Zuid 2019. On Thursday, May 23rd, the artists will finish 7 meter tall statue on Cornelis Schuytstraat, to be known simply as ‘The Big Leg.’ It will be a unique collaboration between the two artists, made in the public area for The Stichting Art Zuid foundation, who strive to make art accessible for all.
Look out for this on the opening, May 23rd, before the exhibition kicks off at Vroom & Varossieau, Willemsparkweg.
