Spotlight: Taittinger

The esteemed champagne brand, Taittinger is next up on our series as we put the spotlight on brands present during our 2019 Fashion Player Awards night.

Jacques Fourneaux founded the champagne house in 1734, making it one of the oldest champagne trading houses in the famous French region. Pierre Taittinger took over the house in 1932 and started to use the name Taittinger. Step by step, Taittinger gained name and fame among the large champagne houses by adopting an innovative attitude and focusing on high-quality Chardonnay.

Still a family-run business even to this very day, at the basis of the quality of the Champagnes of Taittinger is the 289 hectares of vineyards in own possession located in the best locations in and around Reims. They supply around half the annual wine requirement. As a result, Taittinger is less dependent on fluctuating prices on the grape market and they ensure consistent quality. The remaining grapes are purchased on a contract basis from local farmers, with a relatively large number of Chardonnay grapes from the Côte des Blancs, where the most beautiful Chardonnay comes from.

An admirable ethos and a commitment to celebrating the best of times makes Taittinger a perfect brand for the Fashion Player Awards. Their delicious wines will be served, sparkling and vibrant on the night. But which of our Fashion Player nominees will sparkle on the night? Get your votes in now.
