Summer 2019 will be remembered for many things.
For the popular hotel chain, citizenM, it will be remembered as the summer that they came home after a decade-long global jaunt across some iconic cities. citizenM’s newest hotel is in the brand’s hometown of Amsterdam, named after the famous river that flows nearby the gorgeous newly opened building.
citizenM Amstel is a conversion of an existing structure dating back to 1928, built in the Amsterdam School style of architecture. The decorative red brick exterior with its multitude of elegantly slender windows stands out among the neighbouring buildings on Sarphatistraat.
Bringing unique hotels to urban locations, this new hotel embodies the brand in so many ways. Nods to history are present within the interior, whilst a contemporary mix of luxury and functionality greets you as you walk through the doors. Areas to work will make this a popular hotel for guests on business in Amsterdam, while tourist attractions nearby such as great shopping, the zoo and the historic city centre make this ideal for those visiting for pleasure.
Upstairs, 88 rooms were designed especially to fit the existing structure. The sleek furniture is by Vitra, and the famous XL king-size beds are topped with luxury mattresses, duvets, and fluffier-than-snow pillows. This is affordable luxury at it’s best. A hotel that keeps the vibe of the city that birthed it’s very creation. It is now ready to welcome guests, too.
