Memphis Depay can’t hear the haters… and neither can Gini

The Netherlands started their mission to qualify for Euro 2020 in style this week, as Memphis Depay scored two and assisted once in a comfortable win over Belarus. Liverpool’s Gini Wijnaldum also scored in the 4-0 victory and joined Memphis in doing his trademark celebration.

 

England new boy is making his mark

As always when a youngster is called up to the national team, there is some level of scrutiny from the media.

Is he too young to play at this level? Can he handle the pressure? These answers remain to be answered, but Callum Hudson-Odoi has clearly been impressing in training… that accuracy.

 

A historic day in Madrid

History was made this week, as at the Wanda Metropolitano, the biggest crowd to ever watch a women’s football match gathered.

The game saw Atleti Femino host their FC Barcelona counterparts. The away side took the victory, but there was a feel-good feeling around women’s football as a whole after this record-breaking match.

Leroy Sane was one the bad end of a nasty tackle this week, playing a friendly against Serbia for his native Germany.

However, with messages flying in wishing him well after the bad tackle went viral, he used Instagram to confirm that he’s still in good health. Many City fans must be relieved, he has a title race when he gets back to Manchester.
