Jorrit Hendrix: “Watching her grow every day makes me incredibly proud”
In this Interview midfielder Jorrit Hendrix reflects on his career, family life, faith in routine, and a personal style that feels unmistakably his own. Calm, reflective, and confident, Hendrix shows how consistency and identity shape his choices.

From breaking through at a young age to becoming a fixture in PSV’s midfield, Hendrix approaches his career with realism and focus. Success, pressure, and long-term ambition are handled with the same steady mindset.
When you joined PSV’s first team at 17, you entered a very successful period for the club. How did that feel as a young player?
Jorrit Hendrix: “Of course I looked up to the older players in the squad, but you just do your thing and keep yourself calm. Over the years, the hierarchy has naturally changed. I’ve gotten older and a new generation of younger players has come in.”
Last summer Phillip Cocu left and Mark van Bommel took over. Did that change much for you as a player?
“Phillip Cocu is and always will be the coach who brought me into the first team. But a coaching change doesn’t affect me much. As a player, you are part of a team and you execute what the coach asks in order to achieve success together. Every coach has their own vision and personality.”
You won 78 of your first 100 matches with PSV. Which title stands out the most?
“The last championship, my third, gave me the most joy. We became champions against Ajax, our direct rival, which made it extra special. We started celebrating immediately after the final whistle and carried that euphoria until the end of the season. The feeling of being the best is indescribable.”
What are your priorities now, looking ahead?
“Besides playing in the Champions League, the championship remains priority number one. That’s how we qualify. We play attractive football, but the most important thing is that we keep getting results.”

Away from football, Hendrix’s world revolves around his family. Fatherhood has reshaped his perspective, bringing clarity, balance, and a deeper sense of responsibility.
How has becoming a father changed your outlook on life?
“Before my daughter was born, everything seemed to revolve around football. Now I realise that my family comes first. It brings me so much happiness, and I take that feeling with me every day when I leave for training.”
What does living so close to the Philips Stadion mean for your family life?
“It might sound cliché, but having a child gives you such a strong sense of responsibility. My life now revolves around taking care of someone else, and that’s something really beautiful. Watching her grow every day makes me incredibly proud.”
Do you hope your children will follow in your footsteps and play football?
“That’s completely up to them. I won’t push them in any direction. They often come to the stadium with the family, and knowing they’re watching is very special.”
Fashion is not about trends for Hendrix, but about authenticity. His minimalist approach mirrors his personality.
How would you describe your personal clothing style?
“I don’t follow fashion trends. I wear things that make me feel good. My style has changed a bit over the years, but overall I prefer Scandinavian, minimalist clothing.”
Did your style change when you first joined PSV’s senior squad?
“At first, I saw a lot of teammates wearing expensive designer clothes and tried to go along with that. Later, I realised that wasn’t my thing. Brands don’t matter much to me, I just need to like the clothes. The price tag isn’t important.”
Why do you think you deserve to win the Fashion Player Award?
“Because I’m myself and I have a style that suits me. I dare to stand by my own style, even if some people see it as daring. I wear it with conviction because I like it.”
Does criticism ever make you doubt your choices?
“Everyone should wear what they feel comfortable in. I hope that mindset can inspire people. You don’t have to follow trends or choose something just because of a brand.”
