On the Pitch
Kirsten van de Westeringh is a Dutch attacking midfielder known for her energy, technical ability and confidence on the ball. Strong with both feet, she brings creativity and drive to the midfield, combining attacking instinct with the determination to keep pushing forward.
Her career has been shaped not only by ambition, but also by the setbacks she has had to overcome along the way. After suffering two ACL injuries, she was forced to rebuild physically and mentally, while keeping her biggest football dream alive: becoming an Oranjeleeuwinnen player.
Off the Pitch
Away from football, Kirsten van de Westeringh is already building a life beyond the pitch. During her injury period, she discovered that focusing only on rehabilitation was not helping her mentally. While she continued to give everything to her recovery, she also allowed herself to explore other interests, especially in media and storytelling. She did so by starting her own podcast and was followed by a production company for a documentary. Kirsten also began working at ESPN as a field producer, where she learned more about the preparation and detail behind sports broadcasting.
For Kirsten, these experiences did not take away from football. Instead, they gave her more balance and perspective. She believes players can perform better when football is not the only thing in their lives. Her story reflects a modern view of life after football: not something that starts when a career ends, but something that can already grow during it.
