On the Pitch
Antony is a quick, skilful Brazilian winger known for his dribbling and flair. He emerged from São Paulo’s youth academy and won the 2020 São Paulo State Championship with the first team. In February 2020, Ajax signed Antony for a transfer fee of around €20m. At Ajax he became a key player, helping the Dutch team win Eredivisie back-to-back and also once the KNVB Cup.
Later in his career, Manchester United made Antony a high-profile signing in 2022, paying up to €100m to bring him from Amsterdam to Manchester. He scored on his Premier League debut and added key goals in Europe. During his time in England Antony won the EFL Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. However, his form was uneven at Old Trafford, and in January 2025 he moved to Real Betis on loan. At Betis he “revived” his career, and the club signed him permanently in September 2025. Internationally, he has represented Brazil from youth levels to the senior team, winning Olympic gold in 2020 and debuting for the full national team in 2021.
Off the Pitch
Antony describes himself as a “relaxed and family-oriented person” who loves spending time at home with his young son and friends. He enjoys simple off-duty activities like playing cards, video games or pool with teammates, and values quiet moments over the spotlight. In September 2024 he announced his engagement to longtime partner Rosilene Silva, whom he credits with bringing stability to his life. He also speaks gratefully of his family’s support. He recalls how his humble family “broke into tears” of joy when he first signed for Manchester United and how they pray and give thanks together.
He is an overall outspoken figure. In interviews he often thanks God for his career and emphasizes hard work and gratitude. On social media he is known for his charismatic personality, his exuberant goal celebrations and famous Instagram dance moves have made him a meme among football fans. He has been sponsored by Puma since the early years of his professional career. Through these collaborations, Antony has become part of Puma’s group of young global football faces, especially during his time at Ajax and Manchester United. Antony is also a father and often speaks about how his children motivate him both on and off the pitch. In Spain, he received the Silver Dove Award from the Culture of Peace School in Sevilla, recognising his inspiring personal journey and his achievements in promoting social benchmarks for young people.
