German National Team Drops 125th Anniversary Kit
Adidas and the German Nation Team dropped a special kit to commemorate the German Football Association’s 125th anniversary, drawing inspiration from previous historic kits, symbolising Germany’s rich football heritage. Here’s everything you need to know about this limited-edition kit.

About The Kit
After releasing a 125th anniversary special edition kit with Ajax Amsterdam last week, Adidas has launched a commemorative kit to celebrate the German Football Association’s (DFB) 125th anniversary. It pays tribute to Germany’s rich football heritage. The kit features a classic white base with black sleeve cuffs and a black collar. This design echoes the 1974 World Cup-winning shirt. In addition, a subtle, faded federal eagle adorns the left chest. It encircles a retro DFB logo that mirrors the original 1900 crest. Furthermore, Adidas’s vintage Trefoil logo adds to the kit’s nostalgic feel.
125 Years of German Football Heritage
For 125 years, Germany’s national team has stood among football’s powerhouses. The team won four FIFA World Cups (1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014) and three UEFA European Championships (1972, 1980, and 1996). Moreover, Germany’s history features legends such as Franz Beckenbauer, who captained the 1974 team and later coached the 1990 champions. Gerd Müller, meanwhile, became famous as “Der Bomber” due to his incredible goal-scoring. Lastly, Lothar Matthäus, with 150 appearances, holds the record as Germany’s most-capped player.
Kit Debut Against Longtime Rival Italy
Next, Germany will debut the kit against Italy in the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals. Both teams share a historic rivalry, as well as four World Cup titles each. For example, the 1970 “Game of the Century” saw Italy win 4–3 in extra time. In 1982, Italy again triumphed, winning 3–1 in the World Cup final. Now, Germany’s new generation, coached by Julian Nagelsmann, faces a major test. They must step up, especially after the recent retirements of Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller.
