Where is Arsenal’s cult hero Nicklas ‘Lord’ Bendtner now?
During his football career, the former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner became somewhat of a cult hero. The Dane was a beloved character among football fans, particularly because of his extreme self-confidence. He gained the nickname ‘Lord Bendtner’ after saying: ‘’If you ask me if I am one of the best strikers in the world, I’d say ‘yes’ because I believe it.’’ Arsène Wenger also labelled him a potentially ‘’unstoppable striker’’, but despite his talent and confidence, Bendtner struggled to live up to his potential and was often criticised for his arrogance, mentality, inconsistency and behaviour off the pitch. He was often spotted at parties and used to spend money like there was no tomorrow. Nevertheless, his name remains well-known. But where is the former footballer now after retiring in 2019?
Media personality
Bendtner retired from football in 2019 after failing to make an impact at FC Copenhagen, despite the huge excitement from fans when the Danish club signed him. After he hung up his football boots, Bendtner got his own reality show on Danish television with his ex Philine Roepstorff. The ‘Bendtner & Philine’ series showed the couples’ daily lives and ran for two seasons before the show was cancelled in 2022 after the couple went their separate ways.
Bendtner’s TV work didn’t stop there though. He went on to host ‘Nicklas Pranker’, a Danish TV show in which he went undercover to play pranks on celebrities and members of the public. Currently, Bendtner is also a host of the football podcast the Stolpe Ind Podcast together with media personalities Peter Falktoft and David Andersen.

Esports
During the 2020 COVID lockdown, Bendtner also became active in the world of esports and formed his own Counter-Strike team. He previously mentioned that he first started playing the game due to the isolation. ‘’It gave me a sense of connection to the outside world. My knowledge and interests started to grow. I learned about the eSports industry and the impact it has on young people who are working very hard to reach the top.’’
Bendtner became the owner of a small Counter-Strike team called Prosapia Esport. He became so good at the game, that he even participated in a show match at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals in Copenhagen representing Team Denmark in November 2022.
In 2024, he took his love for the esports industry to a new level, launching an esports-focused investment and management company called Legendary Gaming Group. With his new company, he bought majority stakes in multiple esports companies and a 100% stake in the Danish esports organisation Team Singularity. In the official statement after launching the company, Bendtner stated that he was looking forward to being part of something bigger in the industry that fascinates him. ‘’My own role in the company will be an active one.’’
Body transformation
Besides his business ventures, Bendtner has also undergone a body transformation and has been building a strong physique in the gym.
