This is what Fernando Torres is up to after his football career

We often fondly look back on the time when Fernando Torres was tearing up the Premier League at Liverpool in his prime. The Spanish footballer, who placed third in the Ballon d’Or ceremony of 2008, was one of the greatest strikers of his generation. El Niño would lead his country to two European Championship wins and one World Cup trophy, and also won the Champions League with Chelsea, which is often looked back on as a failed spell in his football career. In 2019, after spending one season at Sagan Tosu in Japan, Fernando Torres hung up his football boots and has since then focused on his life after football.

Fernando Torres Life After Football

Fitness

Almost a year after retiring, Fernando Torres shocked the world with his new physique. The former footballer developed a passion for fitness and had spent a lot of time in the gym working on a major body transformation. He also is the owner of Nine Fitness, a business that has opened multiple gyms in Madrid over the past few years. The former footballer is also involved with the Podoactiva company, which is specialized in podiatry and biomechanics.

Investments

But that’s not all, Torres has also invested in the prestigious Lalala Group, which is one of Madrid’s largest restaurant groups since venturing into the world of hospitality in 2015. The former footballer from Fuenlabrada was part of the investment in the group’s first establishment on Ponzano Street.

Football manager

Besides his investments in fitness, podiatry and hospitality, Fernando Torres is also working on a career as a football manager at the club where he started his football career. In July 2021, he was appointed as the head coach of Atlético Madrid’s Under 19 team and in June 2024 he became the head coach of Atlético Madrid B.

Fernando Torres also has a football stadium (capacity 5,400)  in his birthplace Fuenlabrada named after him. It’s the current home ground of CF Fuenlabrada, which currently competes in the third tier of Spanish football.
