Wayne Rooney is set to become a coach
Former England captain, Wayne Rooney, has agreed to a deal that will make him a player-coach at Derby County.
Starting in January, the move back to England and into the backroom of the Championship outfit will see him call time on MLS career. The all-time record goalscorer for Manchester United, joined DC United in 2018 and has so far scored 23 league goals in 41 games.

A key player and captain of the Washington outfit, Rooney’s time in America has been relatively successful, making obvious contributions on the pitch. However, aged 35, Rooney’s transition into coaching looks to make a big step after he has officially agreed on a deal with Derby County following talks in London this week.

Former PSV boss, Phillip Cocu is Derby’s current manager and is said to have welcomed Rooney’s appointment, with the striker set to have a role that involves both the first-team and the academy.
