These 5 NFL players own football clubs
Even though people in the United States and the rest of the world like to argue about what is the ‘’real football’’, these NFL players have shown their love for the sport. From Tom Brady to Patrick Mahomes, these five American football players own football clubs.
1. Tom Brady – Birmingham City
Tom Brady, arguably the best quarterback of all time, surprised the world of football when he became a part-owner of the English football club Birmingham City in 2023. The seven-time Super Bowl champion, however, only owns a very little share (3,3%) according to The New York Times. In an official statement on the club’s website, Tom Brady noted his ambition to create the same success he’s had as a professional athlete at Birmingham City. He’s also a Chairman of the Advisory Board of the club.

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, JJ Watt, became a part-owner of Burnley FC in 2023. He invests in the club together with his wife Kealia Watt, who is a former US Women’s National Team international who played for the Chicago Red Stars and Houston Dash. In an official statement, the couple stated that they wanted to elevate the club’s global profile, whilst also respecting the history. ‘’When you invest in a club that’s been around since 1882, you must have great respect for its history and tradition. We understand that not only are we investing in the squad and manager, we’re investing in the town and its people. We take that responsibility very seriously and intend to work hard in earning their trust and support.’’
