Saudi Pro League tries to boost its reach and image with Netflix documentary series
Following La Liga’s All Access documentary series on Netflix earlier this year, the Saudi Pro League is also releasing its own Netflix documentary on November 21st. Aligned with the country’s vision to host a future World Cup, the Saudi Pro League is also setting its sights on gaining more reach and redefining the landscape of global football. The documentary showcases the intense 48th season of the league, capturing its strategic ambition, star power and culture.
Throughout the six episodes, viewers will get a closer look at the league’s top five clubs (Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, Al Ahli, and Al Ettifaq) as they battle for the championship. The documentary also follows superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Neymar, who all moved to Saudi Arabia last year. Additionally, it also highlights local footballers such as Salem Al Dawsari and Abdulrahman Ghareeb as they aim to stand their ground between all these international superstars.
The documentary promises to explore critical questions about the league’s trajectory. Can its substantial investment bring long-term success? How do local players respond to the increased competition for spots and how do international stars such as Benzema and Ronaldo adapt to the country’s culture?
The documentary series will be available to watch on Netflix from the 21st of November 2024.
