Recap of the Week…

In some parts of Europe, it rained every single day.

Not normal rain, but that light, thin rain that seems to constantly fall, making walking in it not far from swimming. Such weather has made for exciting football, as the famed FA Cup in England saw it’s replays played in wet mud.

This, Dick Advocaat and a new CP Company release feature in our recap of the week.

FA CUP UPSET ON TUESDAY

Much is made of the so-called ‘magic’ of the FA Cup and in fairness, when rain is pouring, mud is splattering and wonder goals from underdogs are being scored, there is little to suggest in of that magic has gone.

Newport County, a Welsh side who play in League Two – England’s fourth tier – progressed past Middlesbrough of the Championship. In doing, they set up a glamour tie with none other than Manchester City.

CP Company release SS19 lookbook with Rejjie Snow

A fine pairing of football culture and fashion appeared this week, with music thrown in for good measure as Irish rapper Rejjie Snow took us around his local football club and more.

Sporting CP Company’s latest collection, you get a look into Dublin with this talented lyricist providing the voice over.

All square in a midweek Classico

Whereas England’s premier cup mixed sides of all levels, Spain’s pitted it’s two biggest clubs together as we were treated to a midweek meeting between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It finished as it started, all square, as a rare Malcom goal cancelled out Vasquez’s opener for the visitors. Los Blancos would have probably left Camp Nou as the happier side, as they will take an away goal into the 2nd leg – coming to a Recap of the Week near you.

21 Savage is British now

News breaking about the origins of ‘US’ rapper, 21 Savage, lead to worldwide news reporting a possible deportation, triggering a week’s worth of memes.

Dick Advocaat to be new Feyenoord boss?

What with Gio van Bronckhorst’s announcement of his intentions to step down at the end of the season coming last week, this week has seen many speculate over who will replace him as Feyenoord coach.

Various names have been thrown around, but according to Voetbal International, only a “yes” from Dick Advocaat needs to happen before the deal is secured.

Man City return to the top of the Premier League

In was a tough start to the week for Liverpool as a 1-1 draw with West Ham presented the chance of City to finish the working week as the Premier League leaders.

3 points behind until their win over Everton on Wednesday, their superior goal difference has seen them narrowly top the table – but they have now played one more game than their Red rivals.
