Recap of the week…

As May begins, the games don’t get any less important.

European semi-finals dominated the week of football, with a certain Argentine genius grabbing the main headlines. Here is your recap of the week, including some stuff you may have missed…

600 not out for Messi

What you did not miss, was Lionel Messi being Lionel Messi.

The Champions League semi-final is his kind of stage and, despite Barcelona being tested by Liverpool at Camp Nou, his genius helped them prevail with a comfortable-looking 3-0 win. Oh, and that free-kick from 30 yards straight into the top corner was his 600th goal for Barcelona, too.

Ajax take an advantage back to Amsterdam

Compared to the FCB vs LFC match, this was a much more quiet occasion as both Tottenham and Ajax struggled to break each other down. Without Kane and Son, Spurs struggled more though and Donny va de Beek was calmness personified as he slotted home the only goal of the first leg early on. Advantage Ajax.

Luka Jovic can’t stop scoring

In a season that has seen the young Serbian striker scored 5 goals in a single match, Luka Jovic has rose to Europe’s attention.

Frankfurt’s impressive form in the Europa League has helped, too and despite the German side conceding an away goal in their semi-final against Chelsea, their star striker’s goal means the tie is finely balanced. Europe’s biggest clubs are watching Jovic very carefully.

Shame about his knee slide, though…

That has to burn.
