Recap of the week…

Another week of football and, specifically for Dutch football, a fine week it was, too.

Ajax’s Champions League story is of course high on our agenda for this weekly recap, but there was plenty of action elsewhere in the likes of the Europa League and of course, the Premier League.

Heroics from Matthijs de Ligt and a fine performance from Donny van de Beek stood out, as these young academy graduates toppled one of Europe’s most experienced sides.

Spurs and Man City have an ongoing saga of their own right now, following a run of fixtures that sees them play each other three times in a week and a half.

No meeting of the sides will ever be as manic as this one, with 4 goals in 11 minutes and 7 in total – 8 including Raheem Sterling’s would-be-winner but for VAR. It was a true spectacle at The Etihad that saw Man City’s quest for a quadruple crumble… just.

Seven-goal Europa League thriller

Spurs and City weren’t the only side to play out a classic match this week, as Slavia Prague tested Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

In a crazy game that saw Chelsea take an early lead, they were made to sweat for their victory against the Czech side that put them into the last four of the competition.

Juventus win Serie A… again

It is now eight times in a row for Juventus, as the aforementioned Old Lady ended a mixed week on a high.

The victory also means that Ronaldo has become the first player to win leagues in all of Spain, England and Italy.
