Player of the Weekend: Matthijs de Ligt
Matthijs de Ligt’s Juventus transfer was huge news in the summer and the Dutchman has made headlines again this weekend.
Playing in his first Turin derby, the young former Ajax captain played a key role at both ends of the pitch. At the heart of a defence that kept a vital clean sheet, and on the end of a cross to score the decisive winner, it was a fine day for De Ligt.

Away to Torino, it was not an easy game for the Serie A champions. The deadlock was evidently tight, and it took until the 70th minute for the Old Lady to take the lead. The quickest to react to a corner, the defender scored his first-ever goal for Juventus in what felt like a huge moment for his career in Italy.
A winner against the local rivals makes De Ligt our Player of the Weekend.
