Player of the Weekend: Harry Kane

Headlines are not supposed to be made playing in these pre-season, non-competitive matches, but Harry Kane just couldn’t help himself.

If any news story was going to dominate Juventus and Tottenham Hotspurs meeting in Singapore, it was going to be the debut of the Old Lady’s new Golden Boy, Matthijs De Ligt. But rather than this, the everlasting memory to come from this game will be the spectacular last-minute winner scored by Harry Kane.

It had been a decent run out for both sides as the game approached its climax. No more than thirty seconds remained as this one looked to be heading for 2-2 draw. Juventus had just had one final attempt to clinch a win foiled and, relieving themselves of defensive pressure, Spurs cleared their lines.

Finding their striker, Harry Kane, the most obvious thing to do was to hold up the ball and see out this friendly match. But Kane had other ideas…
