The new career of former Dutch international Eljero Elia: 3WAYS

Friends Kevin Ramos, Eljero Elia, and Virgil Chocolaad have each seen the world in their own way. Ramos and Elia grew up in The Hague, where the two friends met on the football pitch of FC Voorburg. As the years passed, they each went on their own journey. While Ramos conquered the international dance scene with shows from Ibiza to Miami and Brazil, Elia grew into a feared winger in professional football. With clubs like Juventus, HSV, FC Twente, and Feyenoord, several league titles, and numerous international caps, the skilful winger boasts an impressive football CV. Meanwhile, Virgil Chocolaad worked at Patta, the Amsterdam sneaker store that gained worldwide fame through collaborations with the likes of Nike and FC Barcelona, and now has stores in Milan, Lagos, and London.

Eljero Elia 3WAYS

Through the sneaker store, Chocolaad met Ramos and Elia. The trio became close friends, partly due to their shared love for music and fashion. Meanwhile, Chocolaad has been making a name for himself as MCVI, travelling the world with the likes of Yellow Claw and Ramos. When Elia decided to hang up his football boots, the brothers put their heads together. The “Power Rangers” decided to join forces, realising that it was time for a shared journey: 3WAYS.

Way back

“Elli and I grew up together,’’ says Ramos. ‘’We met while playing football at FC Voorburg. When I moved to the Antilles and Eljero began his football career, we lost touch a bit, but around secondary school, we reconnected, and since then, we’ve been inseparable. Eljero and I go way back.”

Later, Ramos met Chocolaad at the Patta store, where they instantly clicked. “That was during the time I started DJing, and Virgil was also involved in that world. We immediately found common ground: parties, fashion, but also how he approaches life. He quickly trusted me to DJ at his events. Since then, we’ve always supported each other and even toured together later on.”

Brotherly love

“We’ve each walked our own path in life, but we’ve also experienced a lot of similar things and think in many ways alike: in fashion, music, and how we approach life,” says Chocolaad. ”This has created a brotherly bond; we treat each other with brotherly love. As brothers, you won’t always agree, or you might feel like your mum favours one over the other. But, generally, we’re quick to agree with each other. Even though we each have our own unique flavour. We’re really like three Power Rangers, and when we come together and combine our strengths, we transform into one incredible force. The uniqueness that each of us has forms one big weapon together. That’s our strength.”
