Life After Football Issue 82 is out now!

ISSUE 82 is themed ‘Leaders’. On our cover, we feature former footballer and manager Dirk Kuyt who led K Beerschot VA to Belgium’s top flight last season and is now striving to keep his team there. Additionally, we spoke with former Chelsea and PSV Eindhoven midfielder Marco van Ginkel, the Dutch superstar of the female national team Vivianne Miedema, and former Feyenoord and Werder Bremen winger Eljero Elia and his DJ companions of 3WAYS. But that’s not all, there’s much more to uncover in ISSUE 82, which you can order online now!

Dirk Kuyt

Former Liverpool and Feyenoord legend Dirk Kuyt (44) wanted to return to the pressure and intensity that only top athletes experience as quickly as possible after a spectacular end to his playing career, fearing the infamous emptiness. However, it is only now that he feels completely at home in Antwerp with Beerschot. ‘’Belgium feels really great now.’’

Vivianne Miedema

On the football pitch, Miedema is an elite striker with rare skills. Off the pitch, she’s a champion fighting for equal opportunities for ‘the less fortunate’. An open-hearted conversation with the top talent about her promising career path, the much-discussed transfer to Manchester City, and her relentless drive to make a difference. ‘’It is now up to us to leave women’s football in a better place for the next generation.’’

Marco van Ginkel

Marco van Ginkel (31) admired John Terry at Chelsea and learned a lot from Frank Lampard. Lessons he took with him when he became a leader at PSV Eindhoven and Vitesse. A beautiful conversation with a player, who unfortunately suffered many injury setbacks, but who feels the responsibility to lead his teams to greatness. ‘’In 2013, I arrived in the changing rooms of Chelsea. That’s where I saw how John Terry truly captained a team.’’

Eljerio Elia and 3WAYS

When Eljero Elia decided to hang up his football boots, he reconnected with two of his best childhood friends. Their love for music and fashion ultimately resulted in them working together on their next journey as DJ trio 3WAYS. ‘’We are essentially three power rangers, who if they come together, bundle their powers to create one fantastic transformer. The unique quality that we all possess is our biggest asset. That is our power.’’
