Gerard Pique’s Kings League is coming to Italy and features some big names
Former FC Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué has unveiled Kings League Italia, the Italian version of his 7-a-side football competition, which incorporates elements of video games and social media. Kings League was first launched in Spain in 2022 and became an instant success online.
On November 18th, Gerard Piqué officially unveiled Kings League Italia. The former Spanish international has managed to get some big football names involved in the project. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the President of Kings League Italia and Claudio Marchisio has been named the Head of Competition. The official presentation also featured the guests Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Pirlo, Gianluigi Buffon, Luca Toni, Alessandro Del Piero, Francesco Totti and Marco Storari.
Teams
12 teams are participating in Kings League Italia. The top three teams are deemed to be the Boomers, FC Zeta and Zebras. The Boomers are led by the Italian rapper Fedez, who announced Luciano Moggi as his co-president. FC Zeta is managed by the Italian YouTuber ZW Jackson, and Zebras F.C., which is heavily inspired by Juventus, is led by the Italian YouTuber Luca Campolunghi. Underdogs FC, TRM FC, Stallions, FC Punchers, Gear 7 FC, Circus FC, Caesar FC, Black Lotus FC, and Alpak FC are the other teams confirmed to be competing in the league.
Italy is the third place that now features a Kings League competition alongside Spain and the Americas. The start date of Kings League Italia has not been confirmed yet, but it is a given that the games will be broadcast live on social media platforms Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, and X.
