FC Barcelona will dedicate next season’s away kit to Kobe Bryant

But why FC Barcelona? Not only is it one of the biggest football clubs in the world, but Kobe Bryant also had a special connection with the Catalonian club. FC Barcelona visited the U.S. training centre during a summer tour in 2015 and Kobe Bryant confirmed his admiration for the club. Growing up in Italy, the American immediately fell in love with football. And during FC Barcelona’s visit, Kobe Bryant mentioned that he would be open to the idea of ending his basketball career at FC Barcelona Lassa. In the past, the basketball legend who tragically passed away five years ago, was also photographed with iconic Barcelona players such as Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Pep Guardiola, and Andrés Iniesta.

Ultimately, the move never materialised, but the collaboration between the Kobe Bryant brand and FC Barcelona is a beautiful new chapter. With the kit launch still being a couple of months away, fans also still have the opportunity to submit their own designs for the shirt using the FIFA Kit Creator platform. It will be their goal to merge FC Barcelona’s culture and history with Kobe Bryant’s legacy. The colour scheme is already established: purple and gold.
