Adam Maher: My goal for this season was to have fun again…

Our new issue releases soon on April 17th, so we thought we’d give you a taste of the full, in-depth interview with AZ Alkmaar’s Adam Maher, coming in Issue 58…

Born in the hot summer of 1993 in the extreme south of Morocco, but raised in the heart of Diemen, the place where Adam Maher still lives with great pleasure, with his father and mother to whom he can always fall back.

“I am an only child and the rest of my family lives in Morocco. My parents are the only family I have in the Netherlands. As a result, we are super-strong with three people and we actually do everything together. For me, Diemen is the place where I grew up, and where I can always come home to. In recent years I have played football in many other cities and countries, but Diemen has always been – and remains – my home base.”

“I started playing football at SV Diemen and I discovered the square near me, where I played with friends. It still gives me a special feeling when I’m there. ”

The agile midfielder started his professional career at AZ, made trips to PSV, Osmanlıspor (Turkey) and FC Twente, but has since returned to the trusted nest in Alkmaar. “My goal for this season was to be able to play at AZ, to win my place here and to have fun again. We succeeded.”

Look out for the full interview with Adam Maher is the next issue of Life After Football, available from our shop as of April 17th.
