4 things to look out for: Ajax vs Tottenham Hotspur

Tonight is the return leg of the Champions League semi-final between Ajax and Tottenham.

Last week Ajax won the first match of two in London by a single goal. Whoever wins the two-legged tie, will meet Liverpool in the final after their legendary match yesterday, coming back from a 3-0 defeat in the first leg to win 4-3 on aggregate against the mighty Barcelona.

Here is what to look out for and know about, ahead of tonight’s game in Amsterdam…

Long road to the final for Ajax

Ajax has fought through the preliminary rounds, the group stage, Real Madrid and Juventus to the semi-final. More than any other team. In all of these 17 matches, Ajax have lost just once,  losing to Real Madrid at home.

F-Side planning the biggest welcome ever

The fanatic supporters of Ajax, named: F-side, have announced the biggest ‘entrada’ for the match to give players a helping hand. Starting at 19:00 at the Arena park, expect flares, smoke and lots of noise.

Spurs still have injury problems

Tottenham Hotspur will start tonight with personnel problems. Davinson Sanchez cannot play due to a thigh injury and the fitness of Harry Kane is still a concern. Their star man is unlikely to play, plus look out for Jan Vertongthen wearing a mask after last week’s head injury.

Special game tonight for Spurs

Whilst Ajax has a rich history at this level, this is Spurs’ first time in a Champions League semi-final. Will the motivation of making history provide them with the inspiration they need?

Expected Ajax XI: Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Blind, Tagliafico, Schone, Van de Beek, Frenkie de jong, Ziyech, Tadic, Neres.

Expected Tottenham XI: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Sissoko, Wanyama, Alli, Eriksen, Lucas, Son.
