These footballers walked in fashion shows at the Paris Fashion Week 2024

Last week, Paris was all about Paris Fashion Week 2024. The French capital is known as one of the world’s fashion capitals but also excels in the sports field. In less than a month, the Olympic Games will kick off in Paris. The worlds of sports and fashion have always been closely intertwined, with trends crossing over and athletes serving as ideal role models. This fusion of the sports and fashion worlds seems only to be intensifying, resulting in a role on the catwalk for a large number of athletes.

Vogue World: Cissé, Matuidi & Petit

Vogue took the opportunity to look back at the centuries-long intersection of fashion and sports with an hour-long show that linked different fashion eras to Olympic sports, performed by models, dancers, and athletes. Ten decades of fashion marked the 100th anniversary since Paris last hosted the Olympic Games (1924). This included three former French professional footballers symbolizing the 1990s with Djibril Cissé, Blaise Matuidi, and Emmanuel Petit. Also the former Brazilian footballer Raí Souza Vieira de Oliveira was present.

But they were not the only ones on the catwalk; they were accompanied by many other athletes. Maria Sharapova and the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, modeled the tennis era of the 2000s, wearing Off-White and Marine Serre. French NBA top talent Victor Wembanyama, NFL superstars Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson, the French national cycling team, and many other athletes were also present.

White Mountaineering: Babel, Kehrer & Bakayoko

But it wasn’t the only show where footballers were present. Take the SS25 show by White Mountaineering. The Japanese brand blends style with high functionality of outdoor and sportswear. Here, former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel, AS Monaco player Thilo Kehrer, and Tiemoué Bakayoko from clubs like Chelsea and AC Milan were among the notable faces on the catwalk.
