Sneaker of the Week: Nike Cortez ‘Day of the Dead’

Just in time for Haloween and the Mexican ‘Day of the Dead,’ Nike is to release a seasonal version of their iconic Cortez.

The West Coast classic sneaker comes in various colourways and materials. This dark, brushed black colourway is made of the series’ Basic Leather, with orange elements adding that festive touch. Inspired by the ‘Day of the Dead,’ Nike has paid homage to a colourful tradition of Mexican culture.

A day in which Mexicans celebrate and remember loved ones who have died, Día de Muertos uses imagery and colours similar to the US tradition of Haloween. As such, this is a timely new release from Nike. Also, these new Nike Cortez will be limited edition and as such, Nike has afforded to make subtle touches to them.

For example, check the handwritten Cortez logo on the gold tongue tab,  the extra subtle graphics on the white Swoosh or the crosshatch design on the tongue, itself.
