Fashion Friday: Patta collaborate with Air Jordan

It was an easy choice for our weekly fashion highlight this week, as what feels like a historic release was fully unveiled and made available to buy from Patta.

The Amsterdam streetwear brand has become the first European outlet to collaborate with the revered Jordan brand, having their way with the iconic Air Jordan XII sneakers. Originally released back in the early nineties, these Jordan sneakers were the first to be released without any Nike branding, truly elevating Michael Jordan’s brand to a new level of notoriety.

Add to that just how good MJ was at this point in his career, truly one of the best sportsman in the world – as he was for some time after, too. But the footwear in this collection is only one part, as both Gee Schmidt and Vincent Van de Waal, key players at Patta, wanted to make their own VII collection the total package.

“The VII apparel was out of this world. The products that we worked on come straight from a short Jordan clip from Barcelona that became super famous. It features a segment where Michael walks past a huge billboard of himself where he’s got the shoes on, and that image has been forever etched in my memory,” says Gee.

Bringing the patterns of those original garments back to modern day, Patta puts it’s own famous branding into the collection in a tasteful way, with ‘TEAM PATTA’ being the key term for this release. A tight-knit group in terms of who they work, Patta’s growth to working with such an iconic logo is symbolic of their success.
