Danilo Pereira: ”It was always a dream of mine to own one.”

After many dazzling moments and goals on the pitch, it’s now time for something different, Danilo Pereira da Silva opens up about more than just football. In this exclusive Life After Football interview, the Brazilian striker shares his thoughts on style, fashion inspirations, mindset, and how life in the Netherlands has shaped him both on and off the pitch. From fashion choices to future plans, this is Danilo Pereira beyond the field.

What items did you bring with you for the shoot?

Danilo Pereira: “I brought the clothes I wear the most. I always want to look good. I often go my own way with fashion, I choose what makes me feel best. But it doesn’t hurt to get some advice every now and then about what’s in style at the moment. From my fiancée, for example, or my friends.”

Which footballer is your biggest style inspiration?

“I really like Rafael Leão’s clothing and lifestyle. He’s a Portuguese striker for AC Milan. I sometimes check out what he’s wearing on Instagram. It’s very colorful, with lots of prints. He also wears a lot of caps. I look at what other people are wearing on different websites and then decide whether to buy it.”

How would you describe your style?

“I like things simple and casual. It wasn’t always that way. I used to go for flashy stuff, diamonds and gold. But now I’m more into casual looks. You don’t need diamonds to look good. In Brazil, fashion is more extravagant, with diamonds and gold for example. But since moving to the Netherlands, my style has changed, and it suits me more now. I also have to admit, as a footballer these days, you have to be careful about what you wear. Criminals can see what you’re wearing on Instagram and target you. So, you need to be mindful of what you wear and where. I’m not afraid, but I do pay attention.”

What is for you a fashion no-go?

“Those loud shirts with massive brand names across the front. Or ones with too many frills or decorations. You just think, ‘What kind of shirt is this?’”

Who’s the most fashionable footballer of all time, in your eyes?

“I’d say Neymar, my fellow Brazilian. He’s a trendsetter and always dresses fashionably. The way he puts his looks together really speaks to me.”

I’m a pretty good barista.

Do you have any morning or evening rituals?

“I’ve got to say, I’m a pretty good barista haha. Every morning I make myself a top-tier cappuccino. Or a caramel macchiato. That’s next level. I usually have it with bread and eggs.”

Vacation full of activities or total beach relaxation?

“I always go on vacation to relax. I head to the beach and beach clubs. Lying in the sun with good food and nice drinks. The most important thing on vacation is that I can unwind.”

Who do you listen to the most on Spotify?

“I like English and Brazilian rap, and gospel. Dave is an English rapper and Kay Black is a Brazilian one. I’ve got to say, it’s hard to play that in the Feyenoord dressing room haha. I dance to it in there, and they feel the vibe, but they don’t understand the lyrics haha.”

As a youth player, I saw the big guys wearing them and told myself I’d work hard to get one too.

What did you buy with your first big paycheck?

“The first thing I bought was a watch, a Rolex. It was always a dream of mine to own one. As a youth player, I saw the big guys wearing them and told myself I’d work hard to get one too. When I finally got it, it gave me a really happy feeling. I had worked so hard for it. I used to have nothing, and now I can buy a watch like that. The most expensive thing I’ve bought, though, is a house for my mother in Brazil. That was after my transfer to Feyenoord. My family is the most important thing in my life. They always come first.”

What’s the name of the WhatsApp group you have with your friends?

“Top Boys! We send each other TikToks. People doing crazy stuff. We laugh about that all day. The group has friends from Brazil and from here in the Netherlands. That mix is really special.”
