Cristiano Ronaldo Launches an Independent Film Studio
Cristiano Ronaldo has done it again. The football icon known for his excellence on and off the pitch, has ventured into the film industry. Last week, he announced the launch of UR•Marv, an independent film studio co-founded with acclaimed British director Matthew Vaughn. Can we expect to see CR7 on the big screen soon?

CR7 meets Hollywood
After launching his own YouTube channel, Cristiano Ronaldo is stepping into the director’s chair with the launch of UR•Marv, his new film studio co-founded with British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn. Vaughn, renowned for directing action-packed hits like Kingsman, Kick-Ass, and X-Men: First Class, brings his cinematic expertise to the partnership. The duo has already completed two action films, with a third in development, all part of a yet-to-be-revealed franchise. UR•Marv aims to blend Cristiano Ronaldo’s persona into filmmaking. Vaughn, who privately is a big sports fan, believes that CR7 is the perfect figure to create movies with, saying, “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written. He’s a real-life superhero”.
Ronaldo Loves Movies
Ronaldo’s passion for cinema isn’t new. In a 2020 interview, he expressed interest in acting, stating, “One thing that fascinates me is to want to try acting in a film”. This move into film production aligns with his long-standing desire to explore storytelling beyond football. With UR•Marv, Ronaldo is turning that dream into reality, aiming to create inspiring movies that resonate with audiences worldwide. And Ronaldo’s love for the cinema doesn’t confine to the football field. His admiration for cinema has led him to collaborate with Kingsman Producer Matthew Vaughn. Their shared passion for compelling narratives and innovative filmmaking techniques is the driving force behind UR•Marv. Vaughn’s experience in crafting stylish, action-packed films complements Ronaldo’s vision of producing movies that resonate with audiences worldwide.
Expanding the CR7 Empire
Off the pitch, Ronaldo has built a powerhouse brand in CR7, turning his name into a global business empire. His ventures stretch across fashion lines, a successful fragrance & underwear collection, and a partnership with the Pestana Hotel Group to run CR7 hotels in cities like Lisbon and Madrid. He owns various Crunch Fitness gyms, launched a premium water brand, and co-owns a hair transplant clinic based in Madrid. On top of that, he holds a stake in the Portuguese media company Medialivre. With UR•Marv now added to the mix, Ronaldo keeps pushing his brand beyond football, proving once again he’s just as sharp in business as he is in front of goal.
