Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez Finally Got Married
After nearly a decade together, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially husband and wife. The couple married on 11 August in Cascais, Portugal, in a private civil ceremony that looked very different from what many might have expected from one of football’s most famous couples. There was no huge guest list or extravagant venue. Instead, Ronaldo and Georgina chose to celebrate at home, surrounded by their children.
Ten Years Later
The date carried plenty of meaning. Ronaldo and Georgina first met around ten years ago in Madrid, where Georgina was working at a Gucci store. Their relationship became public soon afterwards, and over the following years she was alongside Ronaldo through his time at Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester United, Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team.
Exactly one year before the wedding, on 11 August 2025, Georgina publicly announced their engagement. A year later, the couple made it official. Rather than a long statement, Ronaldo announced the news in typical understated fashion. He shared a photograph of their hands wearing their wedding bands with the simple caption: “C❤️G”.
A Wedding At Home
What made the ceremony particularly striking was its scale. Despite the level of fame and luxury surrounding their lives, Ronaldo and Georgina chose to marry in the living room of their home in Cascais. Their five children were at the centre of the day, with only a very small number of witnesses present.
Georgina explained to Vogue that her idea of the perfect wedding had changed over time. As a child, she had imagined the huge dress, castle and fairytale setting. In reality, privacy had become the greater luxury.
For a couple whose lives are constantly photographed and followed, keeping one of their biggest personal moments almost entirely within the family made the day feel unusually personal.
Gucci From the Beginnning to the Wedding
There was also a full-circle fashion moment. Because Ronaldo and Georgina first met at Gucci, the Italian house dressed the family for the wedding. Georgina wore a custom white silk skirt suit with matching satin shoes, while Ronaldo chose a custom light beige suit.
The understated outfits matched the tone of the ceremony, although Georgina still brought some unmistakable glamour through her jewellery. She wore more than 250 carats of Chopard diamonds during the celebrations, including pieces from the house’s Garden of Kalahari collection. Among them was a necklace featuring a 50-carat diamond.
It was a small wedding with slightly less small jewellery.

The couple kept images from the ceremony private at first, before Vogue revealed the official wedding photographs several days later.
Rather than a traditional glossy celebrity wedding shoot, the images were captured by renowned German photographer Juergen Teller. Alongside photographs from the ceremony, the series shows everyday moments around the family home, giving the wedding album a more relaxed and personal feel.
After the civil ceremony, Ronaldo, Georgina and their children also travelled to the Sanctuary of Fátima for a private religious blessing. The intimate wedding will not necessarily be their only celebration. The couple have indicated that a larger gathering with friends and extended family could follow later.
A New Chapter
The timing also arrives at an interesting point in Ronaldo’s life. At 41, he remains one of the most recognisable footballers on the planet, but the final stage of an extraordinary playing career is inevitably getting closer. Away from the pitch, the wedding marks another major chapter in a relationship that has accompanied much of the second half of that career.
For all the stadiums, trophies and attention that have surrounded Ronaldo for more than two decades, one of the biggest moments of his personal life ultimately happened somewhere much quieter. At home, with Georgina and their children.
