Captain’s Dinner 2025: A Night of Legacy and Leadership

On September 18th, 2025, Life After Football once again brought its community together, this time for the Captain’s Dinner 2025 in Amsterdam. Held in the newly opened Orchid House, the evening struck the perfect balance between elegance and intimacy. Guests followed a smart casual dress code, blending style with comfort, while the setting reflected the brand’s DNA: football, lifestyle, and meaningful connection.

Setting the Scene

Hours before the first guests arrived, Orchid House was buzzing with preparation. From flatscreen TVs to carefully curated seating arrangements, every detail was designed to make the evening unforgettable. Among the 120 exclusive attendees were football icons such as Ronald de Boer, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Ryan Babel and more, joined by comedian Najib Amhali and YouTuber Quentin Correia (better known as Qucee).

Each table was dressed with subtle yet striking touches, finished with plants provided by The Green Contractors. A sponsor logo wall stood proudly in the lobby, offering guests a glamorous welcome. It was the perfect stage for photographs, introductions, and conversations that set the tone for a night of connection. Welcome cocktails by Rémy Martin elevated the energy of the room as more guests arrived.

As everyone settled down, presenter Neal Petersen officially welcomed the room. Dinner unfolded in three courses; ceviche, picanha, and cheesecake complemented by wines made possible by Cordier. Between courses, Neal invited special guests on stage, each moment adding layers to the evening.

The spotlight belonged to Tjaronn Chery, the cover icon of Issue 86: Legacy and Leadership. A highlight video and personal messages from family and friends made the reveal heartfelt and personal, while Chery himself was surprised with a two-meter-tall canvas of his cover as a keepsake.

Entertainment came in many forms. A magician, brought in by Fundingbase, moved from table to table performing close-up tricks that left guests astonished. Later, it was time for the prizes: Gassan raffled an exclusive Montblanc pen, won by Dave van den Berg, while Explora Journeys stole the show with a week-long luxury cruise, handed to Ryan Babel.

Luxury travel company Senses gifted every guest a special coupon to take home, while Optitech also joined in making the evening possible, underlining the collaborative spirit that defines Life After Football events

A Night to Remember

After dessert, the celebration continued in the afterparty room. A DJ filled the space with upbeat tracks, while guests enjoyed their choice of drinks and continued conversations well into the night. By the time people began leaving, they carried not only memories of a unique evening but also tangible reminders: a fresh copy of the new magazine and even a small tree to take home, symbolising growth and new beginnings.

The Captain’s Dinner 2025 was more than an elegant evening. It was proof of how Life After Football connects sport, culture, and lifestyle under one roof. From networking to storytelling, from gifts to laughter, it showed once again why these nights remain etched in memory long after the final toast.
