A Lifestyle in Motion: Marina Reijnders Gourgis on Fashion, Friendship, and Finding Balance

From Alkmaar to Milan and now Manchester — Marina Reijnders Gourgis has been on quite a journey. As the partner of Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders, her life has been shaped not just by her own dreams but also by the rhythm of football. With each move, Marina has embraced change with grace, forming friendships with fellow players’ partners and creating a support system that feels like a team off the pitch.

In part one of our exclusive interview, we explored how motherhood transformed Marina’s mindset and brought more meaning to daily life. In this part, Marina Reijnders Gourgis opens up about life in Milan, her ambitions, and how, in collaboration with GASSAN, jewellery became a true expression of her identity.

Everyday Joys and Big Transitions

For Marina, happiness often lies in the little things. “I genuinely feel happiest when I spend time with my family and friends. Those are the moments I truly cherish.” Whether it’s looking forward to a holiday or enjoying a shopping day, she values the simple pleasures that offer a break from the fast pace of life.

Since moving to Milan — and more recently to Manchester — Marina has embraced life in new cities while remaining grounded. “Everything is new at first, but you get used to it quickly. We’ve always stayed true to ourselves, and that’s very important to us.” With close people now further away, she treasures shared moments even more. “We truly enjoy the time we get to spend with our family and friends.”

A Team Off the Pitch

At both AC Milan and the Dutch national team, Marina found connection and community in other footballers’ partners. “Everyone is incredibly kind and involved. I was immediately welcomed, which felt very warm and inviting.”

During the last European Championship, many of the women were pregnant at the same time. “It’s nice to know you can always call each other for questions or advice.” Now that many of them have children, they continue to share experiences and tips. “I am truly grateful for the connections I have with these women.”

Jewellery, Fashion and Self-Expression

For Marina Reijnders Gourgis, fashion and jewellery are more than just lifestyle accessories — they’re tools for confidence and expression. “Above all, wear clothes and jewellery that make you feel good,” she advises.

Sometimes, however, Marina also likes to step outside of her comfort zone and try different things. “One day I’ll go for a sporty look with bold jewellery, and the next for an elegant outfit with refined accessories.”

Fashion is a game in which you can rediscover yourself every day.

Dreams for the Future

Looking ahead, Marina has dreams for their life after football. “Tijjani and I have always said we’d love to open a barista café someday. A cozy place where people can not only enjoy a drink, but also catch up and connect. A meeting spot full of atmosphere and warmth.”

She’s also interested and sees potential in children’s fashion, perhaps inspired by Arabic traditions. “In Arab culture, children often receive personalised items, like bracelets with their name or symbols for protection. Tijjani is half Indonesian, and you see similar traditions there too.” Marina would love to bring this cultural richness to the Dutch market: “I don’t see that much of it yet in the Netherlands, so I’d love to do something with that.”

From starting over in new cities to forming sisterhoods off the pitch and exploring creative dreams, Marina Reijnders Gourgis continues to carve out a lifestyle that is as stylish as it is sincere.
