This week’s trainer comes from the legendary sportswear brand that is hummel.
The Danish brand have been at the forefront of sports fashion for an age, putting their iconic logo detailing on all sorts – most notably down the sleeves of iconic football kits. But when it comes to footwear, they know what they’re doing, too. For these Minneapolis OG sneakers, they’ve delved into the archives of the brand.
Originally designed as a basketball shoe in the golden era of the sport in the 1980s, when popular culture from the US was sweeping all of Scandinavia for the first time, hummel has brought back a revamped version of the Minneapolis OG for the current day. With deep roots in the street style that defined that era, the unique silhouette is that mid-cut style that has become somewhat rare these days, making these a genuinely unique addition to any sneaker collection. Premium leather combines with a subtle suede detailing to create what was, and still is one of hummel’s most iconic and innovative sneakers in their long history in this game.
But this latest release from the ‘HUMMEL HIVE’ actually marks the first time they stepped away from their usual games. Already established in football, handball and running at the time of the original Minneapolis shoe, this was hummel’s first step onto the basketball court and it will be a step forever remembered through this great sneaker.
