#TrainerTuesday: DAMN… Nike Cortez ‘Kenny I’

It was almost inevitable that eventually, Kendrick Lamar, one of the artists of our generation, would be given his own signature shoe.

Nike have done the honours as they so often do, bringing the goods to a Kendrick Lamar sneaker that is truly tailored to the LA rapper. With ‘DAMN’ stitched into the side of each sneaker rather than the usual Nike swoosh that decorates the Cortez, it’s clear the amount of respect that one of the world’s biggest brands has for the Kung-Fu Kenny.

The swoosh remains on the instep, keeping that classic Cortez look in these trainers which are sure to be talked about, pre-ordered and queued for as soon as they drop. More ‘DAMN’ detailings rests above the Nike logo on the tongues, a really beautiful addition as the bold text of the four-letter word looks perfect resting there, just as ‘NIKE’ usually does.

He debuted them in a performance at the 2018 NCAA College Football Playoff National Championship, with many talking about the shoes described as ‘a tribute to the album’ as soon as they were spotted. Now we’re learning more about them, we can confirm that the “Kenny I” collaboration with Nike is set to drop via the SNKRS app on January 26.
