Photography: Utrecht in Europe

On Wednesday 16th August, FC Utrecht was paid a visit by Zenit St Petersburg, the Russian giants led to the Netherlands by their high-profile manager, Roberto Mancini.

They may not have been favourites for the tie, but the Eredivisie club has put themselves in a good position for the second leg in Russia after a one-nil win in front of their passionate, adoring supporters. We went to┬áStadion Galgenwaard armed with a camera to try and catch some of the vibes that the club’s colourful fan base were creating ahead of this big game.

They’re still a long way from the next round of the Europa League, and even further away from the second leg in the north of Russia, but the combination of home support and a motivated home side produced a great platform to build on before everyone makes the 3000 miles round trip next week.
