Virgil Abloh’s Milan-based, trendsetting brand, OFF-WHITE, has just unveiled a collaboration that brands all over the world would be keen to secure.
Given a great amount of creative freedom to rework a number of different silhouettes, OFF-WHITE have redesigned 10 of Nike’s most popular sneakers. The Air Force One and a couple of Air Max trainers feature in the collection that is 10 pairs of shoes strong. Trademark typography from OFF-WHITE features with “SHOELACES” featuring on every pair as well as slight detailing such as the additional orange tag or patch on every pair.
Much of the range has that translucent colouring with a gum-like quality an aspect of almost every pair. Interestingly, though, the Jordans stand out amongst the collection as a pair featuring far more red and black. Eagle-eyed readers will also notice the addition of Converse’s Chuck Taylor in this drop, too, as Nike exercise their power from owning the iconic brand, too. For Virgil and OFF-WHITE, being able to rework Converse as well as Nike sneakers is just more of a bonus to what is already a strong, challenging collection of sneakers that has remixed some classics.
The shoes are gonna be more officially rolled out around the time of several fashion weeks – they’ll be pre-released at NikeLab locations during SS18 fashion week in New York (September 9-13), London (September 18-22), Milan (September 21-25) and Paris (September 26-30).
