In previous tournaments it has proven to be a very effective method.
That is, Nike releasing a new version of every one of their current football boot models, each with a similarly stunning colour scheme, especially for the World Cup.
In 2010, we had silver and orange edition of Mercurials, Tiempos and the like. It meant that whether you were watching an opening group game or the final itself, you’d see the unmistakable collection of Nike boots on display. Now for 2018, we’ve got a collection of super clean, predominantly white boots to gaze at as the stars take to the pitch in Russia, courtesy of the ‘Just Do It’ range.
Named after the brand’s famous slogan, ‘Just Do It’ seems a fitting sentiment going into an occasion as big as the World Cup, where quite often it’s those who don’t think and just do that come out on top.
Each boot has the cleanest white uppers, so it’s a good job we’re not expecting mud in Moscow. They all feature a matte pearlescent skin and metallic cool grey Swooshes, too, but it’s on the sole where each of the boots have their own style and own complimenting colour.
The Mercurial 360 has a splash of ‘Total Orange,’ surely an attempt to make up for the lack of Holland at this World Cup? The Hypervenom has electric, yellows details of “Volt”, while the Magista and Tiempo are finished in “Bright Crimson” and “Blue Hero” respectively.
On the heel of each you’ll find a triangle made up of 32 lines – that’s one for every country competing at the tournament. It is within this triangle that players also have the option of customisation, with the space to add the flag of their country onto these special boots, too.
There’s plenty to see at this World Cup, but you won’t miss these boots.
