#ManOfTheWeekend: Goalscoring goalkeeper

#LAFMOTW

Not that we need reminding, but sometimes football has a knack for reminding us just why we love it.

It’s the 94th minute, Serie A giants AC Milan are leading minnows, Benevento 2-1. Still searching for their first point of the season, Benevento’s first campaign in Italy’s top division has been far from a fairytale so far. Despite having a man sent off in the 74th minute, it looks as though Milan are going to make their opponents time in the top division even worse.

Out of desperation, Benevento’s goalkeeper is up in the box for one last roll of the dice, A wide free-kick comes from the left and there’s no prizes for what happens next…

Diving through the air, Alberto Brignoli scores with a stunning, injury-time diving header. Nestling in the bottom right corner, the goal earns Benevento their first point of the season and the first ever in their history as a top-flight team. It also earns their goalkeeper our Man of the Weekend prize.
