The Old Lady really is old.
Italian giants, Juventus are celebrating their 120th year in existence this season. A journey that has seen the Turin side establish themselves as arguably the biggest team in Italian football, doing so with all the style and beauty that you would expect from a club that has had Platini, Zidane, Del Piero, Buffon and Pirlo adorn their famous black and white shirt.
It’s that iconic shirt that will be the talk of the weekend as the club turns 120 years old when it plays Benevento on Sunday. adidas have reworked the jersey for the occasion with a tribute to the club’s history, recreating an original club shirt with the simplicity of the black and white stripes looking stunning ahead of the game. Only the star detailings take attention away from the stripes, with the three gold stars each representing 10 league titles. Juve have won 35 overall, now and two European Cups in 1985 and 1996 as well as many more titles in their glittering history.
Founded in 1897, only eighteen-thousand and ninety-seven of these shirts were available to purchase – safe to say they’ve all gone already as Juve fans new and old were quick to buy a piece of club history. Stylish and effortlessly cool, the shirt seems the perfect tribute to the history of a special football club.
Happy Birthday, Juve.
