Umbro have taken it back all the way to Euro 96 with their latest drop, entitled Umbro Projects.
Taking inspiration from a golden era for Umbro and English football, the British brand have composed a collection of polos, t-shirt and a sick bomber jacket, all featuring big Umbro branding and even patterns reminiscent of England kits from days gone by. The diamond detailing down the sleeves is also quintessential Umbro, adding a real retro feeling to this drop.
The England side is actually sponsored by Nike now, but thanks to such a long tenure spent together, the national side and Umbro will always be associated. Iconic kits like England’s at Italia 90, or indeed Euro 96 which these shirts take inspiration from, have meant that Umbro will always have a special place in British football culture. This new drop expresses that well.
Look out for number detailing on some of the pieces, too, with the exact same fonts used on this collection for SS18, as was used through all such kits over two decades ago. If you want to cop a contemporary piece of history, you can head over to Umbro’s worldwide website.
