With the international break now underway, for some it’s a break from the domestic season with little to play for having just wrapped up the World Cup Qualifiers last month but for others everything is still very much on the line in the upcoming play-offs.
And adidas have set the tone early on into the break, releasing 8 home kit’s for some of the biggest names that have already booked their place in the finals. Whether your allegiance lies with a team in play-off purgatory or your just dead eager to see what other kits will be showcased in Russia next Summer – this latest release only ramps up the excitement surrounding the remaining fixtures.
With Germany’s 1990 World Cup winning kit and Argentina’s 1993 Copa America success used as inspiration, Belgium, Spain, Russia, Japan, Mexico and Colombia are also in accompaniment to receive modern updates to some of their nations most famous retro kits.
What’s released so far by adidas has been nothing short of masterful, the modern renditions of those retro throwbacks that are clouded with the triumphant memories of a nation lifted, or the bitter despair of one sent packing maintain that funny nostalgic feeling that can’t quite be explained. For now though these first 8 kits to release in the build up to the World Cup are weighted with hope and excitement for what will unfold in Russia come 9 months time.
