adidas bring the Nineties back to New United Shirt

adidas’ relationship with Manchester United goes back pretty far.

Barring a decade or so long break in which Umbro and Nike took up the reigns at Old Trafford, adidas have provided the famous Manchester club with their kits since the good old days – when kits were jazzy and United were on the rise to the top of the English game.

Taking clear inspiration from the blue/white away strip of 1992, a kit that United wore as they lifted the League Cup of that season, the new alternative strip has the very same detailings. The difference being that, with the black base of the shirt, adidas have given it a classy, contemporary feel that will be rocked by the likes of Paul Pogba rather than Ryan Giggs.

Having the Frenchman to wear the shirt whether it be on the or at a photo shoot has been a big plus for United, with Pogba’s presence both in the media and on the pitch starting to become clearer and clearer as he nears the end of his first season back at the club. With a second-leg semi-final¬†tie at Celta¬†Vigo to come soon, the Europa League trophy may be on it’s way to Old Trafford and if so, we could see this shirt being worn in the Champions League next season.
