Another Christmas is upon us and every year, people all over the world will receive a watch from a loved one.
It’s a classic gift and a popular one for obvious reasons. That’s because a good watch is timeless and long-lasting. It’s because you wear it every day, a constant special reminder of the person who gifted it to you. It’s because a good watch is beautiful, a work of art, even.
We’ve picked three of the best for this Christmas from one of the best watchmakers around, Audemars Piguet.
Royal Oak Offshore – ROO 25th anniversary
After the introduction of the original Royal Oak Offshore in 1993, more than 120 versions of one of AP’s most iconic watches have been launched. Coming in various materials such as stainless steel, titanium, gold and platinum, the Royal Oak Offshore has been reinvented in many ways. This year, they’ve introduced a new special series available in either stainless steel or 18-carat pink gold, each one limited to 50 pieces.
25 years after it was first launched, the Royal Oak Offshore still manages to reveal new creative dimensions
Renewed Royal Oak Chronograph
This year’s new range of chronographs is inspired by a much-loved look first seen in 2008. Just like the vintage examples from the 1930s to 1960s, the dials of the Royal Oak Chronograph have always been thoughtfully designed. All seven models in the new series feature a fresh, two-tone dial design with several new yet subtle details. These include chronograph counters of an increased size that expand at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock, shorter but wider hour-markers, additional luminescent coating for a better readability of the hour and new typeset and transfers.
These design details are showcased in a wide combination of finishes, led by four versions in pink gold which are available on a matching, pink gold bracelet or an alligator strap and with a choice of brown or blue ‘Grande Tapisserie’ dials. The steel versions of the watch are offered with a choice of “Grande Tapisserie” dials in black, silver or blue and are fitted with stainless steel bracelets.
Expect a perfect balance of comfort, durability in style from these watches if you unwrap one on Christmas day.
Reliable, expertly crafted and beautiful to wear. It’s these rules that AP live by and they carry these beliefs into their women’s watches as much as ever. Twenty years since it was first created, the Millenary plays an important part in the life of sophisticated women with an eye for design, detail and complexity. It doesn’t just reflect the feminine lifestyle, but also the personality of the lady.
Nowadays the shape and concept of the Millenary are inspired by influences of modern culture, like architecture and art. This resulted, for example, in the horizontal, sizeable oval case, making the watch so recognizable.
Each Hand-Wound model is available with a whole range of bracelets designed exclusively to match them. Like Audemars Piguet has pursued in the last 135 years, The Millenary collection brings the highest level of technical complexity, reliability and level of finishing.
This makes each piece a true artwork around the wrist.
All these watches can be found at Audemars Piguet’s website, where these watches are joined by many more.
